Nebraska’s bioscience industry has a specialized employment concentration and is growing. The state has employment specializations in two of the four major subsectors – agricultural feedstock and chemicals and medical devices and equipment. Academic bioscience research and development expenditures totaled $251 million in 2008, led by biological sciences ($114 million) followed by medical sciences ($70 million) and agricultural sciences ($57 million).

Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association celebrated a successful year at their 2011 Annual Meeting on April 14, 2011. The meeting was held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Whittier Research Center, 2200 Vine Street, in Lincoln.

Nebraska offers a research and development tax credit, tax incentives and a business relationship with some of Nebraska’s cutting edge bioscience centers, institutes, and programs.

Bio Nebraska presented the Nebraska Bioscience Roadmap to members and friends at their Fifth Anniversary Celebration. The Roadmap was a partnership between the Nebraska Legislature Natural Resources Committee and Bio Nebraska and represents a five-year strategy to grow the bioscience industry in Nebraska.
